Ultrasound deterrents are devices equipped with the ability to detect ultrasonic waves. This certain volumetric flow meter only works when there’s presence of suspended material like particulates or gas bubbles in the flow. This is mainly because an ultrasonic flow meter’s method of measuring velocity involves employing frequency shift of an ultrasonic signal that echoes through interaction with discontinuities in motion.

Its way of functioning makes it ideal for applications that involve conductive and water-based dirty fluids like wastewater. In addition, ultrasonic flow meters are also suitable for applications that entail low drops in pressure or particular systems that require minimal maintenance and work with chemical compatibility. Accordingly, an ultrasonic flow meter is not applicable for systems that deal with clean liquids such as drinking or distilled water.
